About This Role
Join the Threat Intelligence division within Security Operations, where distributed ledger expertise meets real-world investigative rigor. As a Senior Onchain Investigator, you won't just monitor the ecosystem—you'll actively hunt, cluster, and dismantle networks of bad actors exploiting decentralized systems, smart contracts, and DeFi protocols. This is hands-on, high-stakes work shaping how the industry defends itself.
What You'll Be Doing
Lead comprehensive onchain investigations targeting threat actors operating against Coinbase and the broader web3 ecosystem
Cluster and map illicit wallet networks using advanced blockchain analytics and tracing methodologies
Fuse open-source intelligence (OSINT) with onchain evidence to build complete threat actor profiles
Translate investigative findings into actionable detections, wallet blocks, and risk signals
Partner cross-functionally with security, legal, and compliance teams to disrupt fraud and illicit activity
Stay ahead of emerging tactics used to exploit smart contracts and decentralized finance platforms
What We're Looking For
Proven experience conducting blockchain or crypto-focused investigations
Strong command of onchain analysis tools and distributed ledger tracing techniques
Deep understanding of DeFi protocols, wallet behavior, and transaction pattern analysis
Analytical mindset with the ability to connect OSINT data to onchain activity
Excellent written communication skills for documenting investigative findings
Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, high-security crypto environment
Bonus Points
Familiarity with smart contract exploits and common attack vectors in web3
Experience with law enforcement or regulatory collaboration on crypto cases
Background in financial crimes, fraud investigation, or cybersecurity intelligence
Knowledge of multiple blockchain networks beyond Bitcoin and Ethereum
