This is a rare opportunity to shape the legal and compliance infrastructure for one of the most ambitious distributed systems projects in the world. As Deputy General Counsel for Regulatory & Litigation and Chief Compliance Officer, you'll operate at the frontier where crypto regulation, privacy law, and emerging technology policy collide—directly influencing how a global decentralized identity network scales responsibly.
What You'll Be Doing
Lead regulatory strategy across jurisdictions for our blockchain-based identity verification and World ID protocol
Build and oversee a comprehensive compliance program addressing crypto, AML, and data privacy obligations tied to our distributed ledger technology
Manage litigation matters and regulatory inquiries involving our smart contracts, token mechanics, and decentralized network operations
Partner cross-functionally with engineering, policy, and executive teams to embed compliance-by-design into product development
Monitor evolving global crypto and web3 regulatory frameworks and translate them into actionable internal policy
Serve as primary liaison with regulators, law enforcement, and external counsel on matters affecting our DeFi-adjacent and blockchain infrastructure
What We're Looking For
JD with active bar membership and 10+ years of relevant legal experience, including significant regulatory and litigation exposure
Deep familiarity with blockchain, crypto, and web3 regulatory frameworks (securities, AML/KYC, data privacy)
Prior experience serving as Chief Compliance Officer or in a senior compliance leadership role, ideally within a decentralized technology or fintech company
Demonstrated ability to manage complex, multi-jurisdictional litigation and government inquiries
Strong judgment and comfort operating in ambiguous, fast-evolving regulatory environments
Excellent communication skills to translate complex legal concepts for technical and non-technical stakeholders alike
Bonus Points
Direct experience with decentralized identity systems, smart contract governance, or token-based networks
Relationships with crypto regulators or policymakers across major jurisdictions
Background working with biometric data privacy regulations
Prior in-house experience at a blockchain, DeFi, or web3-native company
