About This Role
As a Project Consultant within Deloitte's Regulatory, Risk & Forensic practice, you'll be at the forefront of cryptocurrency investigations, applying advanced analytics and AI-driven tools to trace digital asset flows across blockchain networks. This role blends traditional forensic rigor with cutting-edge web3 expertise, giving you a front-row seat to the evolving regulatory landscape surrounding crypto, DeFi platforms, and smart contracts.
What You'll Be Doing
Conduct in-depth investigations into cryptocurrency transactions, tracing funds across public and private blockchain networks
Analyze on-chain data to identify patterns indicative of fraud, money laundering, or other illicit use of decentralized platforms
Leverage blockchain analytics tools to map wallet activity, smart contract interactions, and DeFi protocol usage
Collaborate with cross-functional teams including legal, compliance, and cyber specialists to build defensible investigative narratives
Translate complex technical findings into clear, actionable reports for clients and regulatory stakeholders
Stay current on emerging distributed ledger technologies, crypto regulations, and threat actor tactics
What We're Looking For
Active security clearance (required)
Experience in financial crimes, cyber forensics, or cryptocurrency investigations
Familiarity with blockchain explorers, crypto tracing software, and distributed ledger fundamentals
Strong analytical mindset with the ability to interpret complex on-chain and off-chain data
Excellent written and verbal communication skills for client-facing deliverables
Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (finance, cybersecurity, computer science, or related discipline)
Bonus Points
Hands-on experience with smart contract analysis or DeFi exploit investigations
Certifications in blockchain forensics or cryptocurrency compliance
Prior government, law enforcement, or intelligence community experience
Familiarity with major crypto exchanges, mixers, and privacy coin mechanics
