What You'll Be Doing
Pioneering Risk Frameworks: You'll be instrumental in developing, refining, and implementing cutting-edge risk management frameworks specifically tailored for the unique challenges and opportunities of decentralized finance and collateralized debt positions.
Architecting Risk Models: Design, build, and maintain sophisticated quantitative and qualitative risk models to assess, monitor, and predict potential vulnerabilities within the Maker Protocol and its underlying collateral assets. This includes stress testing, scenario analysis, and sensitivity analysis.
Collateral Deep Dives: Conduct in-depth analysis of various collateral assets (cryptocurrencies, real-world assets, etc.) proposed for integration into the Maker Protocol, identifying and quantifying their associated risks (e.g., liquidity risk, market risk, smart contract risk, oracle risk).
Market Surveillance & Intelligence: Continuously monitor global financial markets, the blockchain ecosystem, and emerging DeFi trends to identify potential systemic risks, black swan events, and new attack vectors that could impact the stability of Dai.
Data-Driven Insights: Leverage vast datasets from on-chain activity, market data, and other sources to extract actionable insights and inform critical risk decisions. Proficiency in data analysis tools and techniques is highly valued.
Protocol & Governance Interaction: Collaborate closely with smart contract developers, governance facilitation teams, and the broader MakerDAO community to translate risk findings into concrete protocol improvements and governance proposals.
Incident Response & Post-Mortem: Assist in the analysis of critical incidents, identify root causes, and contribute to the development of robust mitigation strategies and preventative measures.
Documentation & Communication: Clearly and concisely articulate complex risk concepts, methodologies, and findings to both technical and non-technical audiences, including the MakerDAO community and external stakeholders.
What We're Looking For
3+ years of experience in a quantitative risk management role within financial services (e.g., asset management, banking, fintech) or a similar analytical field.
A strong understanding of traditional financial risk categories (market risk, credit risk, liquidity risk, operational risk) and their application.
Proficiency in statistical analysis and quantitative modeling.
Experience with data analysis tools and programming languages (e.g., Python, R, SQL) for data manipulation, analysis, and visualization.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to distill complex information into clear and actionable insights.
A proactive and self-starting attitude, with the ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Deep intellectual curiosity and a genuine passion for blockchain, cryptocurrencies, and decentralized finance.
Bonus Points
Direct experience with decentralized finance (DeFi) protocols, particularly lending/borrowing platforms or stablecoins.
Familiarity with Solidity and smart contract auditing principles.
Experience participating in or contributing to open-source projects or DAOs.
A strong understanding of game theory and economic design principles.
Advanced degree in a quantitative field (e.g., Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Computer Science).
