Responsibilities: Merchant Risk Assessment and Monitoring Conduct risk assessment of merchants during underwriting, including business model analysis, compliance checks, and fraud risk evaluation. Perform ongoing transaction monitoring to identify suspicious patterns, fraud indicators, and potential violations of card scheme rules or regulatory requirements. Development of AI-Driven Monitoring Participate in the design and adaptation of AI-based monitoring systems for merchant activity and transaction flows. Define risk rules, monitoring parameters, and detection logic to be implemented within AI-driven tools. Work closely with product, data, and engineering teams to translate risk requirements into automated monitoring solutions. Continuously improve monitoring efficiency by reducing false positives and strengthening fraud detection. Interaction with Regulators and Card Schemes Act as a key point of contact with card schemes (Visa, Mastercard) and regulators on matters related to risk management and compliance. Support and participate in regulatory and card scheme audits, including preparation of documentation and responses to inquiries. Manage non-compliance cases, remediation plans, and communication with relevant stakeholders. Ensure adherence to card scheme rules, regulatory requirements, and internal risk policies. Requirements: Proven experience working with merchant underwriting processes, including onboarding, risk assessment, and ongoing monitoring. Strong understanding of UPI (Unified Payments Interface) ecosystem, transaction flows, and associated risk controls. Deep knowledge of Mastercard and Visa risk standards, including compliance with card scheme rules and monitoring programs. Proven experience working with card schemes and regulators during audits, including preparation of documentation and remediation of findings. Excellent knowledge of Indian regulatory and legal requirements related to payment risk and compliance. Experience in cross border (must have) banks: Axis, ICICI, HSBC, RBL, Yes Bank, Standard Chartered, HSBC payments entities : Cashfree, Razorpay, Tazapay, Worldline, Paypal India, Adyen India. Fluent English, both written and spoken.
